The Voice of the People Party (VPP) today got ‘U Prah’, as its election symbol for the upcoming Meghalaya Assembly polls.
“With this, the party is on its way to bring about clean politics and eradicate corruption,” VPP leader, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said at a public meeting in Smit.
He said the free symbol was allotted to the party by the Election Commission. U Prah, is a traditional winnowing tray used to separate rice grains from the husk.
“We are happy with the symbol of our party that signify the vision of the party to bring about clean politics yearned by the citizens of the state and we will be a blessing for the future generation,” he stated.
“Many have tried to create uncertainties and misled the people against our party that we don’t even have a symbol, and neither are we registered,” Basaiawmoit said and declared, “We are a registered party with the Election Commission of India.”
Basaiawmoit said the party owns no trick in garnering people’s support but “straight mindset and clean heart to serve the people righteously.”
