East Jaiñtia Hills police arrested two persons and seized 34.44 grams of heroin during a search conducted of all vehicles at Umkiang.
The accused, Dony Paya Mulieh (19) of Khliehshnong Lumshnong and Langki Rymbai (23) of Dongdukan Lumshnong were travelling in a Tata truck 1512 bearing registration number AS 28 AC I046 from Kalain, Cachar towards Lumshnong.
Police said two soap boxes suspected to contain illegal drugs were recovered from their possession worth of Rs 28 lakh.
The illegal contraband was seized and a criminal case against the suspected persons will be taken up as per the NDPS Act.
