Amid widespread anger against illegal collections along the national highways in Meghalaya including in the Shillong By-Pass and other roads, a fight was witnessed today between truckers and workers of a toll gate of Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council at Jowai By-Pass.
Videos that went viral on social media showed truckers armed with swords trying to attack the toll gate workers today.
According to reports, the truckers had refused to pay the toll and tried to drive away from the spot.
Toll gate workers reacted by pelting stones at the trucks and also trying to block the road.
Irked by the action of the toll gate workers, the truckers wielding swords came out of their trucks and chased the toll gate workers.
