The A·chik Holistic Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has written to the Public Works Department (Roads) warning of the risk that dead trees along roads in Garo Hills pose to residents and commuters.
“These trees, many of which are in advanced stages of decay, pose a serious hazard to commuters, especially during high winds and adverse weather conditions,” ACHIK said. “There have been multiple reports and firsthand observations of trees leaning dangerously close to the road and branches falling, which could potentially lead to severe accidents or injuries.”
The pressure groups urged the department to take action by identifying trees at risk and removing them.
