The body of the missing tourist from Hungary, Puskas Zsolt was recovered today at around 1:30 pm.
According to reports, the body was found from Rymgku Ksang under Elaka Ramdait near Shella in a decomposed state.
Zsolt reportedly went missing on March 29.
The body of the tourist was recovered after an intense search by the Fire and Emergency Service of the Sohra Civil Sub Division, State Disaster Response Force and villagers of Mawkohwiar and Ramdait.
Reports stated that Zsolt wanted to go trekking from Mawsahew to Nongriat but instead reach Rymgku Ksang, which was an isolated place.
However, further details on the matter are yet to be received since the police did not want to comment on the matter without getting accurate information.
Police are investigating how Zsolt reached the particular place and the cause of his death.
The Sordar of Mawkawir said that the rugged path was earlier used by the people of Mawkawir and Ramdait to travel to Tyrna. The people would cross over the river through a small living root bridge.
This path is no longer in use after a cemented path was constructed leading to an iron bridge over the river. This path leads to Nongriat and the people are now travelling through this route.
Zsolt arrived at a hotel in Laitumkhrah around 3.45 am on March 29. He left the hotel around 9 am, hired a local taxi, and dropped off at Mawsahew near Sohra at noon. From there, he set out on foot to Mawkawir, intending to trek to Nongriat with only a backpack.
The Hungarian Embassy reported his disappearance to the local police on April 2.
