Shillong, Nov 16: The Joint Action Committee Jaiñtia Hills, comprising East Jaintia Hills Truck Owner & Transporter Association (EJHTOTA) and Jaintia Hills Truck Owners Association (JHTOA), has expressed gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Sñiawbhalang Dhar and Home Minister Prestone Tynsong for resolving the protest called by MCTODA against cement companies in East Jaintia Hills.
The JAC appreciated the ministers’ initiative to convene a meeting of stakeholders, including MCTODA, EJHTOTA, JHTOA, and cement company representatives, on November 13. The meeting led to the enhancement of cement and clinker ferrying rates to Rs.9 per ton-km, including truck quotas.
Other demands are being discussed by cement companies, with a meeting scheduled on November 21. The JAC urged the ministers to intervene again to ensure implementation.
