Shillong, May 28: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the East Jaintia Hills Truck Owners and Transporter Association, along with the Jaintia Hills Truck Owners’ Association, has hailed the state government for its recent decision to exempt pending truck taxes that accumulated during the pandemic.
The state cabinet on Wednesday unveiled a relief package aimed at truck owners, which includes a 90 per cent exemption on fitness certificate dues and an 80 per cent exemption on motor vehicle taxes and goods.
The relief, the government said, is expected to alleviate some of the burdens faced by truck operators, allowing them to ease their financial strains and stabilise their businesses moving forward.
The JAC in a statement thanked the government and said the decision comes as a blessing for the truck operators.
