A training cum input distribution programme for farmers was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri Bhoi in Umiam today under the project “Development of IFS models through holistic approach for livelihood improvement of tribal farmers in Aspirational Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya” under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).
KVK, Ri Bhoi head and principal scienties, Dr M Mokidul Islam spoke on the TSP project being implemented by all ICAR institutes in the entire region.
SMS (Fisheries), Bankitkupar Mukhim spoke on the importance of livestock in an integrated farming system and also on the importance of vaccination of all animal and its role of doubling farmer income and uplift the income and livelihood of the poor rural farmer through adoption of sustainable agricultural technologies and integrated farming approach.
He also explained about the importance of feed and feeding management of both livestock and fishes for optimum growth and production.
Around 50 farmers from Khweng village were present at the event during which 500 numbers of Kuroiler breed along with 450kg of poultry feed and 550kg of fish feed were distributed.
