The Traffic Police Department of Nongpoh Police Station, in collaboration with the Nongpoh Region Auto Owners and Drivers Association has together decided to collaborate in enforcing the law and act against drivers who violate traffic rules, particularly drunken driving.
With various accident cases reported due to reckless driving the decision also comes after the traffic police had conducted many awareness programs on the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
B. Thangkhiew, an officer of the Traffic Department and president of the association Banasar Lyngdoh told reporters today that stringent action will be taken against drivers who violate traffic rules and vehicle owners who do not possess proper documentation. Particular emphasis will be placed on preventing drivers from consuming alcohol while on duty, they said.
Additionally, a collective resolution has been passed to regulate vehicles that lack essential documents, including permits, licenses, registration certificates, and other necessary papers. Vehicle owners and drivers have been instructed to comply with legal requirements, failing which they will be penalised under the Act.
