The Meghalaya Cements Limited (Topcem) has suspended two of its employees for use of provocative and incendiary slogans to beat up protesters at the public hearing held at Thangskai.
The management of Topcem in a statement here today said, that the words used by its employees during the protest was “unparliamentary” and taking strong view of the incident has immediately suspended them.
“Topcem Management once again apologise to the local people due to the behaviour of our employees. We assure that the company is committed to promote peace, harmony and a conducive environment for the employees and nearby villagers associated with us, and that no such untoward incident will happen in future,” the company said.
