An extremely important timber bridge, which had been one of the main connections between many villages of Dadenggre civil sub division in West Garo Hills, was restored once again almost six months after it was washed away.
The bridge at Kalchengpara, one of the longest timber bridges in the region, was washed away in a flash flood early this year that inconvenienced locals who had to take a roundabout journey for official works as well as trade and commerce.
Local MLA from Selsella, Ferlin CA Sangma, informed that reopening of the bridge had been done through a ceremony held yesterday in the presence of the MLA.
Locals however expressed hope that the bridge would soon be converted into an RCC one so that the road and connectivity between themselves is not hampered as had been due to the bridge being washed away in a recent flash flood.
