The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorm/lightning activity with gusty wind reaching 30-40 kmph, heavy rainfall and hail at isolated places in Meghalaya.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the state for the next five days. The alert is valid for today.
A statement from the department said the cyclonic circulation over east Assam and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level has become less marked. A trough runs from Jharkhand to south Assam at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
