The State government will hold its final negotiations with the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) for relocation of the residents of Them Ïew Mawlong to the Shillong Municipal Board land at Bivar Road here.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today said that a meeting to discuss on relocation of the resident will take place next month.
“We will have one more meeting with them (HPC). Unfortunately, Puja just came in so hopefully by next month we will be able to call them and sit once and for all and we will submit an affidavit to the court.”
It may be mentioned that the contentious issue has dragged on in the Meghalaya High Court since 2018. The court had earlier observed that the matter of proposed relocation of the 342 families from Harijan colony at Them Ïew Mawlong has dragged on for “far too long”.
Earlier, the court had asked the State government to file a report indicating the progress made, when the matter appears at the next hearing on November 8.
