Shillong, Oct 12: The 3rd State Level Inter-School Traditional Singing Competition recently concluded at the Lariti Performing Centre.
Organised by the Department of Arts and Culture in collaboration with Shillong Public School, the event drew participation from schools across Meghalaya.
Students adorned in traditional attire mesmerised the audience with performances featuring traditional instruments and indigenous melodies. FR Kharkongor, Principal Secretary, was the chief guest and assured continued support for such programmes aimed at preserving and promoting authenticity and indigeneity.
Padma Shri Silbi Passah reminded the children of their cultural roots and enthralled the audience with a lively rendition of traditional phawars.
The winners were awarded prizes, with Synod School emerging victorious for their unique performance showcasing traditional music instruments. Meghalaya Police Public School secured top honours in the solo category.
