Synod College, Shillong celebrated the graduation of 636 students today at a ceremony held in Dinam hall, here today.
Nine other students who excel and secured various positions were also presented with the Synod College academic excellence awards on the occasion.
Commissioner and Secretary Frederick Roy Kharkongor who attended the programme as the chief guest praised the college for its role in equipping students to not only become jobseekers but job creators.
Kharkongor stressed on how important value-addition knowledge is important in the present day. He said, “You have got a degree now, it’s important for you to also equip yourselves with more skills whether its communication skills, IT skills, networking and others, so that you become employable.”
“Be the best event manager, be the best teacher, be the best administrator and be the best in whatever area and domain that you’re in, and the world will come and seek for your services.”
The Primrose Gatphoh Memorial Award was conferred on Barisha Warjri, second position holder in Zoology (Honours) and Dr. D Wanswett Award to eighth position holder in Chemistry (Honours) Badonbok Nonsiej during the ceremony.
