The South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has warned of strong action against officers found absent from the district.
According to the DC, in spite of several instructions and discussion held in various meetings and briefings some officers are reported missing from their district headquarter during occurrence of disaster.
“Daily attendance will be taken in all government offices and stem action will be taken under Section 56 of the Disaster Management Act. 2005, against defaulting officers who are in the habit of absconding from the headquarter on Monday and fleeing the headquarter by Thursday or early hours on Friday,” the DC said.
In view of the cyclonic storm which is likely to continue in the next few days in South West Khasi Hills, especially in the southern portion bordering Bangladesh, the DC said the District Disaster Management Authority is geared up to respond and mitigate the impending danger by keeping all the machineries active and alert 24X7.
