Shillong, Sep 18: Meghalaya won their third and last Pool H match in the U-17 boys’ category of the Subroto Cup 2025 by beating Delhi 1-0.
Khrawborlang Lyngdoh (13′) scored what proved to be the winning goal of the 70-minute match in New Delhi.
Meghalaya were represented at the tournament by North Liberty Higher Secondary School of West Jaintia Hills, who won the state title in July. They had beaten Chhattisgarh in their first game in Delhi 2-0 before losing to Kerala yesterday 2-1.
Only the top team from each pool qualify for the quarterfinals and Kerala managed to claim first position by also beating Delhi 2-1 and today defeating Chhattisgarh 1-0.
The Meghalaya U-17 girls were the most successful this year, having made it to the quarterfinals last month, where they lost to Kerala. Meghalaya had been represented by Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School of Ri-Bhoi at the tournament.
Meghalaya did not get to play a single match in the U-15 boys’ category after several players of Mawtneng Upper Primary and Secondary School failed age checks after reaching Bengaluru for their tournament.
