Students who will miss their Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2023 today because they were allocated testing centres outside the state will be given an opportunity to take it again.
This was informed by the Education Department today. The state government had raised the matter with the Union Ministry of Education and National Testing Agency, the press release added.
“The Union Ministry for Human Resources has directed the NTA to reschedule the exam for students from the State who were allotted CUET examination centres outside the state,” Education Minister Rakkam Sangma said separately.
The rescheduled exam date for the affected students from Meghalaya will be announced as soon as the state administration submits the list of the affected students to the NTA. The students on the list will get another opportunity to sit for the exam at a rescheduled date.
Meghalaya had earlier requested the NTA to set up CUET centres in all 12 districts of the state.
In a letter to Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that students from Meghalaya were allocated centres in Ranchi, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Kolkata and southern states of the country.
Informing the Union Minister that the admit cards were issued on June 14 while students have to appear for the CUET on June 16, the CM said there was very little time to make the necessary arrangements for travel and accommodation. (With inputs from PTI)
