Street vendors of Khyndai Lad area in Police Bazar have been directed to relocate to the upper floor of MUDA complex by July 22.
In a notice issued today, the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) said only vendors with a Certificate of Vending (COV) issued by the Town Vending Committee are eligible to relocate to the notified vending zones, specified in the certificate.
Vendors without a COV have been directed to vacate Khyndai Lad not later than three days.
The board said the government has declared the remaining parts of Khyndai Lad area a ‘no vending zone’ on May 26 after the vending zone at MUDA complex was notified on May 2.
The COV was issued by the committee from June 2 to June 19 as per provisions of the Meghalaya Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme 2023 read with the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act 2014.
