The Statehood Day of Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya was celebrated today with great enthusiasm and joy at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Shillong. Governor of Meghalaya, C.H. Vijayashankar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Highlight of the celebration was the vibrant cultural performances showcasing the rich traditions of all four states. Artists captivated the audience with their displays of Meghalaya’s Khasi and Garo dances, Tripura’s Hojagiri dance, Manipur’s classical Ras Lila, and Uttar Pradesh’s Lok Geet performance. In his address, the Governor emphasized the unique identity and contributions of each state. He lauded Meghalaya’s journey since attaining statehood in 1972 and its progress in areas such as education, tourism, and sustainable development. The Governor also expressed hope for peace and unity in Manipur, acknowledged the rich cultural traditions of Tripura, and commended Uttar Pradesh for its pivotal role in India’s history and development.
