A state level training of civil society and faith-based organisations on Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and vaccine promotion was held yesterday at the Pastoral Centre here.
The program was organised by a joint collaboration of SBC North East Alliance, UNICEF Assam & North East and Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) which seeks to enable the organisations of Meghalaya to understand and analyse issues related to COVID-19, Routine Immunization (RI) and CAB.
Secretary health and family welfare, Rosetta M Kurbah attended the programme as the chief guest. While calling on all stakeholders to work together in promoting healthcare, she stressed on the social responsibility and moral responsibility of the individual and the community.
Kurbah also indicated the government setting up of the Village Health Society and the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Safe Motherhood Scheme which will be of great help to Women, Family and Childrens’ Health.
Varsha Chanda, CEO of ENVISIONS Institute of Development, Delhi stated that there is a great need to counter the fact of disinformation from turning into misinformation.
The keynote address was delivered by Netta L Syiem, State IEC-BCC Consultant, National Health Mission.
Significant takeaways from this program are that healthcare is not only the domain of the women in the home and society, but male members of the community play a big role in the healthcare of the family and should be acknowledged as such, a statement here today said.
The participants and groups gave a commitment to support health-providing agencies in their outreach programs, especially in overcoming hesitancies and resistance to health promoting interventions.
