Taking a step towards a healthier future, Meghalaya launched the Megha Fit Scheme.
Aligned with the visionary Sports Policy of Meghalaya, 2019, which seeks to foster a vibrant and culturally enriched state, this initiative is set to be launched on the prestigious occasion of National Sports Day 2023.
The Megha Fit Scheme emerges as a robust response to the need for a health-conscious community, aligning seamlessly with the overarching goals of the Fit India Movement launched in 2019 by the Prime Minister of India.
As Meghalaya’s youth constitutes a substantial 74 per cent of the population under the age of 35, the significance of introducing fitness and well-being activities becomes paramount for a promising future.
The objective of the scheme is to cultivate a culture of healthy living, empower the public to embrace health-conscious lifestyles, enhance cross-departmental coordination to make fitness more accessible, and foster positivity and productivity among the citizens of Meghalaya.
Moreover, the scheme draws from the national vision of the Fit India Movement and aspires to establish Meghalaya as a hub of fitness and well-being.
Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the Megha Fit Scheme will focus on the youth of Meghalaya.
The scheme encompasses a wide range of activities, from hosting awareness programmes, conducting surveys, and formulating school-based programmes. Each activity will cater to distinct aspects of physical fitness including nutrition and exercise.
To ensure the smooth execution of these initiatives, the Sports Department will collaborate with various stakeholders in the State and encourage community driven initiatives.
More details will be released with the notification of the scheme in the coming days.
