Unlike the past when the budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is held in March, this time the budget session is going to be held in February.
The Assembly session to pass the budget for 2024-25 will begin from February 16 and may last for ten days.
Probably the budget session is being held ahead of its normal session due to the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
While the budget session of the State Assembly will begin on February 16, the calendar for the session will be decided by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) which will meet February 2 at 4:30 pm in the office chamber of the Assembly Speaker here.
The meeting will be chaired by Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma and will be attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prestone Tynsong, leader of opposition Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, Charles Pyngrope and Lahkmen Rymbui.
