Shillong, Apr 19: The Shillong Sports Association (SSA) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of its member Dister M Marbaniang, describing it as a major loss to the sporting community in the state.
A condolence meeting was held at SSA Stadium led by SSA president Banteidor Lyngdoh, where members observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect.
Speaking on the occasion, Lyngdoh said Marbaniang’s passing would leave a lasting void in SSA, highlighting his dedicated contributions and commitment to sports activities.
Marbaniang, fondly known as Bah Dis, had sustained serious injuries in a road accident on April 11 and succumbed on April 17 around 11:30pm.
SSA members later visited his residence in Nongrah to extend condolences to the bereaved family.
Colleagues remembered him as a hardworking and sincere member, whose contributions to the association will be deeply missed.
