The state Assembly’s Budget Session concluded today with the passage of seven bills.
The Meghalaya Appropriation (No. II) Bill 2022 was one of the seven. It authorises the government to incur an expenditure of Rs 18,881 crore as mentioned in the budget estimates for the 2022-2023 financial year.
The 10-day budget session began on March 4. The bills passed by voice vote.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had presented the budget on March 9 with a fiscal deficit of Rs 1,849 crore.
The other bills passed today were the Meghalaya Compulsory Registration of Marriage (Amendment) Bill 2022, Meghalaya Settlement of Arrears under the State Taxation (Amendment) Bill 2022, Registration (Meghalaya Amendment) Bill 2022, Meghalaya Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill 2022, Contingency Fund of Meghalaya (Amendment) Bill 2022 and Meghalaya State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) (Amendment) Bill 2022.
