Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma and Deputy Speaker Timothy attended the 10th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference held in New Delhi.
Forty-six Presiding Officers, 25 Speakers and 14 Deputy Speakers of Legislatures from States and Union Territories attended the the conference held under the theme, “The Role of Legislative Bodies in the Attainment of Sustainable and Inclusive Development.”
Sangma said this was his third time attending the CPA Conference. He said that the conference provided deep insights into legislative procedures, which are sometimes overlooked or difficult to interpret.
He emphasized that the CPA Conference has greatly contributed to enhancing his understanding and experience, enabling him to be more effective in conducting and managing legislative affairs in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
The CPA India Region was created in 2004 from the erstwhile CPA Asia Region as one of the nine Regions of the CPA. Currently, it has 31 Member Branches, including the Parliament of India and 30 State and Union Territories Legislatures.
