The National Space Day was today celebrated at Nongpoh as students thronged the “Space on Wheels” exhibit, a bus showcasing various models of space rockets and satellites.
The programme was organised by the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) at the District Library Hall.
Commissioner& Secretary Joram Beda who attended the event said the day is dedicated to technologies that harness energy in space and serves as an inspiration for many students to pursue careers in this exciting field.
He highlighted India’s commitment to advancing knowledge in space technologies. While acknowledging that India is still catching up with other countries that have made significant strides in space technology, he praised the nation’s achievements, including reaching the South Pole of the Moon despite numerous challenges.
Beda also encouraged students to develop interest in space and sciences and urged schools to instill a passion for learning about the technologies that benefit from space exploration.
He further stressed on the importance of nurturing future Space Scientists to drive India’s progress in space science and technology.
Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal and NESAC Director Dr SP Aggarwal were present on the occasion.
