The Joint Action Committee of Hima Sohiong has lauded the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council for suspending Bashemphang Thabah, the Lyngdoh (chief) of Hima Sohiong, over various allegedly dishonest activities.
“We thanked the CEM of the KHADC and Executive Member in charge of Elaka and the KHADC officials, who via a letter dated December 2, 2022, have suspended Thabah,” the JAC chairman, Purningstar Shabong, told reporters today.
He also thanked the KHADC for appointing an administrator, C Pohlong, who had also issued a Sanad to the Rangbah Shnongs of three villages under Hima Sohiong.
He also warned politicians against playing politics over the issue of Hima Sohiong even though he refused to reveal the name of any politician involved in such activities.
“Some politicians are trying to mislead the people and saying that it is not necessary to go to the administrator or the council for the Sanad as it can be done when another acting Lyngdoh is appointed in place of Thabah,” he said while urging the Rangbah Shnongs not to listen to the politicians who are trying to interfere.
Shabong claimed that among his supposed faults, Thabah used to sell the Sanad at Rs 5,000 to whoever had political influence.
