Shillong, Jul 2: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Khasi Hills district, Matsiewdor War Nongbri today informed that shops in a particular part of Shillong are no longer permitted to open on a daily basis.
In an order issued by the DC today, it was specified that shops located at Jhalupara, Mawbah and Barapathar area under Zone-IV / Jhalupara police outpost operating from fixed premises are no longer permitted to open on daily basis but shall open only on alternate days from 8 am to 8 pm.
Shops with serial number 1 and 3 will open on July 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 while shop numbered 2 and 4 will open on July 4, 6, 8, 10, 14, 16 and 18.
In another order, the DC has allowed reopening of shops dealing in second hand clothes at Khasi Market located below Jaiaw Taxi Stand, Motphran from tomorrow. These shops will also open on alternate days from 8 am to 8 pm.
According to the order, shops in the Khasi Market with serial number 5 will open on July 3, 11 and 13; shops with serial number 6 will open on July 4, 6 and 14; shop with serial number 1 will open on July 7 and 15; shops with serial number 2 will open on July 8 and 16; shops with serial number 3 will open on July 9 and 17 and shops with serial number 4 will open on July 10 and 18.
The DC also said that the custodian of the location, the shop owners and the customers should strictly follow all the other conditions laid out in earlier orders, without fail and they are also to maintain social distancing of at least six feet.
The shoppers have been asked not to overcrowd in one area or shop and frequent sanitisation and hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette should be ensured.
The shopkeepers and customers are to wear masks, which is mandatory and non-compliance will entail action of closure of the shops concerned and to cooperate with the management made by the district administration and district police.
