Shillong, Jun 24: The Pynursla Civil Sub Division has announced a temporary traffic diversion after a major road collapse of the road near Laitlyngkot village that has disrupted traffic and cut off the Shillong-Dawki Road.
As per the order issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner Gautam Warjri, traffic will now be rerouted via Laitlyngkot, ïew Mawiong, Umthli, Nongthymmai, and Laitkynsew.
The diversion will be operational daily from 10 am to 4 pm and again from 10 pm to 5 am. All traffic from Lyngkyrdem and Laitlyngkot will be allowed to pass only until 10:30 am, after which construction work will commence.
The temporary diversion is restricted to light and medium vehicles, while heavy motor vehicles will be permitted on the route from Pomlum to Mawlieh
Commuters are advised to exercise extreme caution when travelling during or after heavy rainfall, especially at night. In case of emergencies, vehicles such as ambulances, fire services, and police personnel may be granted access during closure periods, subject to a safety assessment by on-site authorities, the order said.
