The A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) and the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) have written to the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills over “pressing issues” concerning the State Bank of India facilities in Selsella.
According to the letter, the SBI branch there suffers from limited banking hours and services, with the bank closed every Wednesday. Given that the weekly market in Selsella occurs on Thursday, it is imperative for the bank to be operational on Wednesdays to facilitate cash withdrawals and other banking transactions for the local populace, the letter explained.
The branch also does not have a passbook updating machine or an ATM, the two pressure groups added.
