Shillong, Apr 22: The All Selsella NGOs Alliance (ASNA) has written to the Block Development Officer of Selsella regarding its “serious concern” regarding ongoing road repairs being carried out by Midas Construction on the Selsella to Phulbari road.
ASNA said that the road is already showing signs of deterioration even “before the completion of the work”. This indicates “poor workmanship, use of substandard materials and lack of proper supervision during construction.”
This causes a wastage of public funds and inconvenience and hardship to the people, the letter added.
The Selsella-Phulbari road is an important route for the people of the Selsella, Balachanda and Kalchengpara, connecting various villages and facilitating movement for education, healthcare, trade and other essential activities.
