The Meghalaya State Watershed and Wasteland Development Agency under the Soil and Water Conservation Department today organised the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) Mela under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) Watershed Development Component (WDC) 2.0 here.
Soil and Water Conservation Minister Marcuise N Marak was the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Marak said that the mela serves as the right brand testament to the success of PMKSY. The stalls and exhibitions are evidence of the resilience and determination of all farmers and self-help groups. He said that it is not just about financial assistance but more about fostering self-reliance, encouraging entrepreneurship and building sustainable communities.
The minister also called upon the people to reiterate the commitment to the principles of sustainable livelihoods, water conservation and community driven development.
More than 60 stalls were put up by various SHGs from across the state showcasing an array of organic and handmade products, like honey, pickles, spices, vegetables, candies, juices, handicrafts and other items.
