The Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Training Centre (STC) Shillong, celebrated a week of Women’s Day activities by conducting a one day kickboxing self-defence awareness and basic training yesterday with 80 girls of Mary Mount Higher Secondary School.
This year, the Fit India Mission under the aegis of Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is celebrating Women’s Day for a whole week from March 3 to 9, seeking to involve women in a series of activities designed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, healthy nutrition and social inclusion in partnership with ministries/departments of Union and state governments, universities across the nation, NGOs, self-help groups, etc., to drive the theme of ‘Stronger Her, Healthier Future’.
These sessions will empower participants, equipping them with essential skills to enhance their personal safety and confidence, contributing to their overall well-being and learning the skill and techniques of self-defence.
National and international ranked kickboxers of the MSKA demonstrated their skills and talents in martial arts and provided basic training on self-defence techniques for the girls of the school.
