Deputy Chief Executive Member (CEM) PN Syiem said that the select committee of the KHADC, of which he is the Chairman, that has been constituted to examine the report of the delimitation committee on redrawing constituency boundaries will take the final call on the recommendations of the panel.
On the issue of opposition by the Mawlai Mawroh Dorbar Shnong to be detached from Mawlai constituency and be joined to Jaiaw, the Deputy CEM said that he has received a representation from the said Dorbar Shnong as well as Mawlai Town Dorbar.
He said that the select committee will discuss this specific concern expressed by Mawlai Mawroh Dorbar Shnong and any other issues that may come up from different quarters.
Coming to the defence of the delimitation committee, Syiem said that Jaiaw has only around 17,000 to 18,000 voters and it was felt that there is continuity from Nongmali (which falls under Jaiaw constituency) to Mawlai Mawroh.
