Shillong, Oct 26: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) yesterday recovered the body of a 50-year-old man from Umkhein River at Jaroit village in East Khasi Hills.
The SDRF was activated by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) after the man, who was a resident of Pdengshnong, Nonghali, went missing while fishing in the Umkhein at Jaroit.
The SDRF team, led by Sub-Inspector DK Kharbih, arrived at the spot at 8am. After assessing the site, the team conducted a search operation using barbed wire and diving into the water. After casting for half an hour with barbed wire, SDRF jawans T Khongstia and I Lapasam fished the body from the water.
Later, the body of the deceased man was handed over to police personnel. The deceased was identified as Kellshon Shadap, husband of Sibonda War and a resident of Pdengshnong, Nonghali.
