A 10 year old boy drowned in the Umiam river at Nonglum Mawiong village, Ri Bhoi district, officials said.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) responded to the drowning call from the district police last night, a statement from the Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards said today.
The team led by Inspector Transly Tynsong commenced their operation at 10:30 am and located the boy identified as Biki Makri son of Jantilin Makri.
The body has been handed over to the police and the relatives of the deceased, the statement said.
