Local MLA Sanbor Shullai held a review meeting on Saturday with regards to different development projects in his South Shillong constituency.
The meeting was held with officials from the police and Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) and reviewed the installation of solar streetlights, regulation of traffic, implementation of the Smart City Scheme and introduction of CCTV cameras in public places.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police (Traffic) D Aswaghosh, SMB Executive Engineer FB Chyne, officials from Laban police station, officials from Rilbong beat house and representatives of the Dorbar Shnongs from the neighbourhoods under the constituency.
Shullai requested those present to coordinate with each other and ensure that traffic congestion within South Shillong is resolved, with a sharp lookout for double parking, parking in no parking zones, wrong way driving, dis/embarkation points, etc.
A total of 265 solar streetlights will be installed in the different localities within the constituency. The MLA also requested the officials of the SMB and Dorbar Shnongs to identify isolated locations where solar streetlights would be of benefit.
Shullai also directed the officials of the SMB to ensure the speedy implementation of the various projects underway.
