South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai, who is the Chairman of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and member of the committee on government assurances, held a review meeting on the Smart City project here today.
The meeting was with officials of the Information Technology and Communication Department, Police Department, Public Works Department, Public Health Engineering Department and Shillong Municipal Board to review the implementation of Smart City project and implementation of the ongoing additional water supply scheme in South Shillong constituency.
Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem informed that installation of CCTV cameras has been designated at strategic locations in order to help the police investigate crimes. Shullai requested the Dorbar Shnongs to help the police to ensure that CCTVs be installed at as many locations as possible.
The police also suggested that shopkeepers, apartment and office buildings install CCTVs.
Shullai, during the review meeting with PHE and Municipal Board for the implementation of ongoing additional water supply scheme, has given a deadline of six months to ensure speedy implementation of the scheme in his constituency.
The MLA also asked the PHE Department not to release payments to contractors who have done the work they have been allotted according to specifications.
