The Shillong All Faiths Forum (SAFF) has decried the violence directed at bystanders that arose out of a rally against unemployment.
In a statement today, SAFF said that “it is true that unemployment continues to be a burden of the youth in the state but violence is not the answer. SAFF calls on all the citizens to promote peaceful relations which have always been the hallmark of our people in Meghalaya.”
SAFF also said that it “noted with concern the interference of certain individuals from outside the state trying to aggravate the situation with unpleasant comments” and advised them to refrain from indulging in such harmful approaches.
