The Rongmei Phwam (Rongmei Society) and the Rongmei Students Union of Shillong organised a Community Social and Cultural Meet, 2024 under the theme “Together We Achieve” at the Divine Saviour Parish, Nongthymmai here today.
The annual event brought together the Rongmei Naga community from various walks of life, celebrating the tribe’s rich traditions through traditional attire, dances, ho-hoing, and folk tales.
The event was graced by Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority and Prof. (Dr.) Elizabeth Gangmei from NERIE, Umiam, as special guests.
The special guests urged the Rongmei people to unite on a path toward inclusive growth in the era of neo-modernism, emphasizing the importance of being futurists, technologists, and humanitarians.
The event also welcomed new students arriving in Shillong for higher education and honoured achievers in competitive exams and those with academic excellence.
