The Mawranglang Dorbar Shnong and the Mawranglang Tourism Conservation Development Society have informed that no decision was taken to reopen the Rilang River viewpoint in South West Khasi Hills district.
The State government has allowed tourists spots in the State to reopen from October 16 for local tourists only after they were closed for several months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, myntri of Mawranglang C Kharsyiemlieh said that since the residents around it are apprehensive they have decided not to reopen the viewpoint but hopeful of being able to welcome tourists back safely when things get back to normal.
The Rilang viewpoint was inaugurated on October 24, last year.
