A Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercise was conducted for residents of Khliehmustem village in Ri Bhoi district by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) aimed at promoting community participation and identifying local agricultural and rural development needs.
During the exercise, participants and facilitators collaboratively developed various PRA-related maps to visually represent the village’s resources, infrastructure, and developmental needs. These maps will serve as valuable references for the community and KVK in the district in formulating effective, targeted interventions.
The exercise was attended by the headman of Khliehmustem village Fairly Teron as well as community members, whose presence underscored the importance of the collaborative efforts for the local community.
Insights from the exercise will inform KVK ongoing commitment to support and enhance agricultural productivity, resource management, and sustainable growth in the region.
The event featured experts including Eliza C. Syiemlieh, Dr. Moloy Sarma, and Dr. Meghna Sarma, who each discussed their areas of expertise and the significance of PRA methodologies in rural planning.
The experts emphasised how PRA can serve as an essential tool for assessing resources, identifying challenges, and setting priorities for sustainable rural development.
