A training programme on integrated fish cum poultry farming system was today organised for farmers in Umtasor village under Umsning block in Ri Bhoi district.
The training programme was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ri Bhoi (ICAR) in collaboration with Ri Bhoi Farmer Union wherein around 20 farmers participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Scientist & Head KVK, Ri Bhoi, Dr M Mokidul Islam highlighted the initiatives of the KVK in implementing the new farmer policies of the government.
He also assured farmers of all possible co-operation from the KVK as and when required for aquaculture development in the district. He further stress on the use of promising technology which can be used by the local farming community to double their income.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Brighstar Khongwir and Durut Majaw from Ri Bhoi Farmer’s Union.
At the training programme, SMS Fishery Science, Bankitkupar Mukhim elaborated on how to manage their ponds especially during the time when fish diseases occur.
During that program 300 improved poultry breed Vanaraja were also distributed to the farmers.
