The State government today said that repair work for the Jowai bypass from Thadlaskein to Mihmyntdu will be completed by June.
This was informed by Additional Advocate-General K Khan during hearing of the PIL filed by Kynjaimon Amse in the Meghalaya High Court today.
According to Khan, the contractor who has been entrusted with the work has returned and the work order has been issued for the repair work on the bypass from Thadlaskein to Mihmyntdu.
Meanwhile, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said that following an earlier observation of the High Court, meetings have been held between officials of the State government and NHAI for the purpose of ascertaining whether the Jowai bypass, which forms an integral part of the highway, may be taken over by NHAI.
NHAI also informed the High Court that the remainder of the stretch of road between Jowai and Ratacherra has been repaired and the repair work is complete.
The High Court has fixed June 5 as the date for the next hearing of the matter. Both the State PWD (Roads) and NHAI will also report about the progress of the work at the proposed hearing.
