A social activist in Garo Hills has suggested the State government to include indigenous tribals as members into the expert committee constituted to review the State Reservation Policy.
Cherian G Momin, in a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the inclusion of Khasi-Jaiñtia and Garo communities as members in the committee is crucial for the inclusive and effective review of the policy by taking a wide range of perspectives.
Momin said by including members from the communities the expert committee would possess invaluable local knowledge and insights that can help the committee better understand the ground realities and specific challenges faced by these communities in relation to job reservations.
He said inclusivity would also send a strong of the government’s commitment to the welfare of all its citizens and enhance its capacity to create a well-balanced and fair job reservation policy that benefits the entire state.
