The A.chik Progressive Approach (APA), a local body in East Garo Hills has questioned the contractor of the Williamnagar town upgradation for stopping the project midway.
According to the group, Williamnagar town was left deserted without road and drain repairs, though up gradation works commenced it was stopped.
APA president, Francis Marak said that the upgrading work of roads went on for two weeks just like an “entertainment”.
“The right side of the town is almost done with the construction but the left side of the town is beatified with flooded water on the potholes during the rainy season,” he stated.
The group has demanded reasons to be made public on why the upgradation works were stopped. “Is it stopped by the high authority of the state or is it stopped due to unsuitable season or is it stopped because of the pressure put by political parties? It will be a lie to say if it is stopped due to the season because it has stopped much earlier before it rains in the state,” APA asked.
