Teachers who have passed the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) in 2019 have written to the Director of Educational Research and Training to request that the validity period of the test be extended to the maximum seven years.
According to an Education Department notification in 2018, the MTET certificate will be valid for two years unless extended by the State government to a maximum of seven years.
Several qualified candidates were not allowed to sit for the personal interview conducted recently by the department to fill up vacant posts in government primary schools due to “errors” in the mark sheets or for not producing the original completion certificate.
The teachers have requested that the government extend the validity period of the MTET 2019 certification and allow qualified candidates to retake the test in order to improve their scores if desired by them.
