Pynthorumkhrah has suffered by having the same legislator representing the people in the Assembly for the past 25 years, Congress candidate Pynshngain Syiem said today while filing his nomination papers.
Syiem, the former MLA for Mawsynram, is the MDC for the area and is looking to win the Assembly race on February 27.
Stating that the constituency does not have any development, like proper roads, drains, water supply, sports infrastructure and others, he said that the people will vote for him because they want development.
“We need legislators who understand how to make policies, know the laws and regulations because without it the state cannot grow,” he added.
When asked about the disadvantage of the Congress not having any sitting legislators, Syiem referred to the growth of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF), which he founded after falling out with the Congress several years ago and the National People’s Party (NPP), which had just two MLAs in 2013 and now runs the state.
