CEM KHADC Pyniaid Sing Syiem, and convener of the ADCs in the Northeast, has expressed gratitude to AK Mishra, adviser to the home ministry government of India, northeast region.
He said that the meeting with Mishra on September 21 was fruitful on the memorandum the KHADC along with the rest of the ADCs submitted in July this year to Home Minister Amit Shah.
Syiem said that the adviser has understood the proposal made by the KHADC on the proposed 125th constitutional amendment.
He said after the meeting, it was clear that the government of India will be tabling the 125th constitutional amendment in the parliament in December, of which the Sixth Schedule is included.
“We are thankful to the home ministry who gave it’s patient hearing to the proposal made by the 10 ADCs,” he said that they have also made it clear that they will not compromise with principles that they have proposed to safeguard the unique identity, custom and traditions, and practices of the Indigenous tribes people.
He said that they hope that the parliament, through the amendment, will not dilute the very purpose of the unique identity of the Jaitbynriew.
